Here is one we will be watching with great interest!
The Black Keys, an Ohio-based hit-making duo, along with their Producer Danger Mouse, have filed suit against Pizza Hut and Home Depot alleging improper use of their compositions in commercials.
The Keys claim Pizza Hut (and their advertising company Interpublic Group of Cos.) prominently featured “significant portions” of Gold on the Ceiling in one of their commercials without clearance to do so.
Similarly, The Keys are suing Home Depot for unauthorized use of the duo’s hit single Lonely Boy in one of their commercials.
In their complaint, lawyers for The Black Keys claim that the two commercials are a “brazen and improper” effort to capitalize on The Keys hard-earned success.
Stay tuned!
