Music noise emanating from licensed premises and music events is governed by varied and complex laws to ensure that neighbours are not exposed to excessive noise, detriment to the amenity of the area in which the licence premises is situated or adversely affects human health.
Every licensee must ensure that they do not cause or permit undue detriment to the amenity of the area in which they are situated to arise out of or in connection with the licensed premises.
Noise complaints from neighbours can escalate and lead to serious enforcement action including heavy fines and the imposition of conditions on your liquor licence or planning permit. Local Councils, Environmental Protection Authority (EPA), Victoria Police and Liquor Control Victoria are all able to enforce laws regarding excessive noise from licensed premises.
